Dr King Anthony Fernandez

No matter how many times I hear it, I still can't believe how mean we were to African Americans back in the day. While we are nowadays more towards Middle Eastern people, it's the African American revolution that rocked the world. I mean, those horrid white people formed a mob and surrounded the Freedom Writers in Nashville. What's worse, one of the people that got beat up the most was, himself, a white man. That is human cruelty in its most primal and dangerous form. I would think that the blacks should have stopped protesting or at the very least fought back. They did neither of those things. They just stood and took it. Sometimes, I wish I had the strength to do that. Maybe one day, I will.

  1. Anthony,
I completely agree with you. Nowadays many foreigners, including Middle Eastern's, Americans do not like or have this stereotype about them. I to wish I was as strong as those during this time.

  2. I like how you related the problem of civil rights to a current problem of stereotyping Middle Eastern people. It really is hard to fathom how curl people can be to other humans.

  3. I like how you make a personal connection to your writing, you say that one day you hope to have the strength to not retaliate against cruel things that are done to you. I know that if these things were done to me I wouldn't have the strength to not retaliate.

  4. You do point out that discrimination is still present in this day and age, which doesn't make sense considering how far society has come. We just need these other places around the world to realize this and start to take action.

  5. It is unfortunate that discrimination and racism even have to exist. It really make me sad, and I admire those people who have the will to ignore or walk away from the hate that still presents itself in our cruel world.

  6. I find it very interesting that you related the struggles of middle easterners today to that of the african americans years ago. I do not believe the severity is as great, but racism of any size is unacceptable in my book.
